Transaction ID
A transaction ID (TXID) is the unique hash that identifies a transaction on a blockchain, used to look it up in a block explorer.
What Is a Transaction ID?
A transaction ID (TXID, or transaction hash) is a fixed-length string computed from the transaction's data. It is unique to that transaction and is shown by wallets and exchanges after sending.
Pasting it into a block explorer shows whether the transaction is waiting in the mempool, how many confirmations it has, its fee and its inputs and outputs. Support teams of exchanges ask for it when a deposit is missing.
A TXID is public information and safe to share; it reveals the amounts and addresses in that transaction, but gives no control over any funds.
A crypto exchange is a company that lets users buy, sell and trade crypto and, by default, holds the keys to their coins.
