The Ellipal Titan Mini, released in 2022 and listed at $99, is the smaller sibling of the Titan 2.0. It signs transactions only by scanning and showing QR codes, with no USB data connection, Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. Keys sit in a secure chip Ellipal describes as CC EAL5+, inside a sealed metal body that Ellipal says wipes the keys if opened. It creates a 12-word BIP39 seed phrase. The screen is 2.7 inches instead of 4, there is no desktop app, and the firmware is closed source.
Security Warning
Avoid buying from unofficial marketplaces — counterfeit risk.
Known incidentsNo Titan Mini-specific vulnerability published. Predecessors: 2019 Ledger Donjon physical-access findings on the original Titan (EC01: UART, reactivatable WiFi, ECB-encrypted updates; no seed extracted) fixed in firmware v2.0 and leading to the Titan redesign. 2020 Towo Labs web and XRP app-parsing issues fixed in app v2.8.1.

Tamper evidenceFull metal-sealed body; keys auto-wiped on physical tampering or disassembly (vendor-stated; sensor type not specified for the Mini)
Ellipal says the Titan Mini offers the same core security features as the Titan 2.0 in a smaller body. Keys are generated and kept in a secure chip Ellipal describes as CC EAL5+; it names no chip model and publishes no certificate, so the certification is the vendor's statement. The device is sealed in metal, and Ellipal says it wipes the keys if someone opens it. There is no USB data port, Wi-Fi or Bluetooth: transactions travel only as QR codes between the device camera and your phone. The device unlocks with a password of 8–32 letters and numbers, and Ellipal's help center says Titan devices wipe themselves after 10 wrong attempts. Firmware is closed source. Each update is signed by Ellipal, and you can check the signature with Ellipal's open-source verification tool, but you cannot build or audit the firmware itself.
SecurityKey Factor
The Titan Mini creates a standard 12-word BIP39seed phrase (the Titan 2.0 creates 24 words); it can import existing phrases of 12 to 24 words. Because it is plain BIP39, you can restore the wallet in other BIP39 wallets, not only on Ellipal hardware. A seed phrase card comes in the box, and a bundle with a steel backup plate is sold separately. You can add a passphrase of up to 32 characters for a hidden wallet. Ellipal offers no cloud or vendor backup; the seed phrase is the only way to recover the wallet.
Recovery & backups
You build a transaction in the Ellipal app on an iPhone or Android phone, scan its QR code with the Titan Mini's camera, confirm the recipient and amount on the 2.7-inch touchscreen, and scan the signed QR code back with the phone. The QR round trip takes a few more steps than a cable or Bluetooth, and there is no desktop app. The device charges, and takes firmware updates from a microSD card, through the included Security Adapter dock. The interface is available in English, Chinese, Italian, Spanish, Russian and German. Our usability and backup-ease scores are editorial estimates anchored to the Titan 2.0, which uses the same app and workflow.
Usability / UX
Ellipal states support for 45+ blockchains and 10,000+ tokens. For the Titan Mini, its own documentation names Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP and Polygon, and the device screen in its product photos shows Solana and BNB Chain. The Ellipal app connects to dapps through WalletConnect and includes swap features, and the device can pair with MetaMask by QR code. Ellipal documents staking and Safe multisig only for the Titan 2.0 and X Card, so we have not credited them for the Mini. Check that your specific coins are on Ellipal's list before buying.
Ecosystem & integrations
The device itself has no network connection. The Ellipal app does the network work, and its privacy policy (updated 3 November 2026) says it automatically collects app version, feature use, crash logs, device and operating-system details, language and IP address; we found no setting to turn this off. Ellipal does not require an account. There is no documented Tor, coin-control or CoinJoin support, and the app and firmware are not open source.
Privacy
Ellipal lists the Titan Mini at $99, and $158 with a steel backup plate. On 5 November 2026 a Black Friday sale cut both prices by half ($49.50 and $79.50); we use the list price for scoring. Against the Titan 2.0, you give up the larger screen, the 24-word default seed and some documented app features for a smaller, lighter and cheaper device with the same air-gapped design.
Price & value
The Titan Mini keeps what defines Ellipal's Titan line — QR-only signing, no wireless or USB data connection, a sealed metal body and a standard BIP39 seed — in a smaller and lighter device. Recovery does not depend on Ellipal, and the air gap keeps the device off every network.
The trade-offs are the same as the Titan 2.0's, plus a smaller screen. The firmware is closed, the secure-chip certification and tamper protection are Ellipal's own claims with no published certificate or audit, the companion app collects usage data, and there is no desktop app. At its $99 list price it suits phone-first users who want an air-gapped wallet with a screen; people who want open-source firmware should look elsewhere.

What if Ellipal goes out of business?
Your seed phrase follows the BIP39 standard, meaning you can recover your funds using any compatible wallet — you are not locked into Ellipal's ecosystem.
What if I lose my Ellipal Titan Mini?
Your cryptocurrency is stored on the blockchain, not on the device. If you lose your Ellipal Titan Mini, you can recover full access using your seed phrase on any compatible wallet.

What is the difference between the Ellipal Titan Mini and the Titan 2.0?
Both are QR-only, metal-sealed wallets with a secure chip Ellipal describes as CC EAL5+. The Mini has a 2.7-inch screen instead of 4 inches, a smaller battery, creates a 12-word seed instead of 24 words, and unlocks with a password rather than a pattern. See the Titan 2.0 review for comparison.
Is the Ellipal Titan Mini air-gapped?
Yes. It has no USB data connection, Wi-Fi or Bluetooth; transactions are passed to and from your phone only as QR codes. The USB cable and Security Adapter dock are for charging and firmware updates.
Does the Titan Mini work with a computer?
There is no Ellipal desktop app. The companion app runs on iPhone and Android. The device can pair with the MetaMask browser extension by QR code.
How many words is the Titan Mini seed phrase?
The Titan Mini creates a 12-word BIP39 seed phrase. It can also import existing phrases of 12 to 24 words, and supports an optional passphrase for hidden wallets.
Is the Ellipal Titan Mini open source?
No. The firmware and the Ellipal app are closed source. Ellipal publishes a tool to check the signature on each firmware file, but not the firmware code.
How do you update the Titan Mini's firmware?
You download the firmware file from Ellipal's support site, copy it to a microSD card, insert the card into the Security Adapter dock and attach the device. There are no updates over the app or by QR code.
